I have always been a keen golfer and currently have a handicap o f 5, I have played scratch team, west midlands league and A team matches in the past. I hav e been working in the greenkeeping industry for 18 years, working my way up from apprentice greenkeeper to course manager. I started my career at Maxstoke Pa rk golf club where I started as an apprentice greenkeeper and progressed to become first assistant on completion of my NVQ Level 2 and 3.
Following on from this I completed my spraying and chainsaw qualifications, which put me in the position to become deputy course manager at Olton golf club. While at Olton golf club I gained my 360-excavator license and had the opportunity to gain valuable management knowledge and host multiple county and national tournaments.
After 5 years I felt the time was right to progress into a head greenkeeper position with the opportunity to take over at Walsall golf club. I was in this position for 18 months and in this time, we made significant strides to improve turf coverage and quality. Being a Coventry local and a junior member at Coventry Hearsall golf club, the opportunity to take over as course manager was one, I didn't really need to think twice about. I have been in the position for 12 months and feel the course has improved significantly in such a small amount of time. The club and my greens team have fully supported my vision and we are going in the right direction for course conditions we want to achieve.
